My name is Lisa Stacy, born and raised in Marble Hill Missouri.  I have never lived anywhere else, got married and bought a house and here to stay.  I am currently divorced, and have 2 kids (well teenagers).  My kids are my life and I don’t know where I would be without them.  My major is child care and guidance.  I have worked in child care for 12 years, had my own daycare business, and sold it out.  Although it is very challenging I love taking care of children it is my passion, and I wouldn’t want to do anything else.  I currently work at Just Kids in Jackson Missouri as an assistant director/infant teacher.  I have faced a lot of challenges, but the biggest challenge I face everyday is making sure I do my best with my own kids to make them succeed in life, and also to take the best care of other children to make sure they have a good safe place to go while their parents are working.
My goal for this class is to be a better writer I have never been any good at writing short essays, or long essays.  This class will be be very challenging for me, and I’m ready to try by best to succeed.

  1. Seems that there are a lot of us in this class that are older and have kids. It is tough sometimes. I have three kids myself. Let me know if you come up with the secret to balancing work, school, and kids! I sure could use the help. Right now it is only the first week and my head is spinning.

  2. Lisa, I drive through Marble Hill every day on my way to SEMO. I live in Piedmont. Maybe we'll see each other between Marble Hill and Jackson one of these days!?

  3. Lisa,
I as well owned my own business. It was a restaurant in a private country club. Followed my dream, but decided at the wrong time to pursue it. It was at the onset of the downturn of the economy. Trying to operate a restaurant in a private country club where memberships were dropping like flies was challenging to say the least. As well, you always have a bulls eye on your back because everyone thinks you have money because your a business owner. Little do most people know small business owners if they are smart reinvest in their own business. In regards to child care I can attest to the importance of great child care being important. Aside from a recent news story about child care facilities with local and state infractions I do have first hand knowledge of good vs. bad child care. When my middle child was an infant and my wife at the time was starting back to her career, we searched and searched for a child care provider. After getting a reference through our parish at the time and multiple references we decided to go with a registered child care provider out of her home. We reviewed it and when we were there we made the decision that is was clean, big enough and offered a good environment, or so we thought for our daughter. Upon the first day of her attending there when she came home all she did was cry. ALL SHE DID WAS CRY. After about a month of this, I decided to "pop" in and check on my daughter. When I arrived the place was a mad house. The lady we had picked who was registered with the state was by herself and was always by herself. She was caring for I believe 4-5 infants, 4 toddlers, and 4 pre school kids. All by herself. The toddlers were all lined up in their little car carrier next to the wall just crying so loud. I made the decision to start looking for another provider and we found a wonderful lady in the area that took care of our daughter all the way up to the time she started pre school. Needless to say, the first day our daughter went to the new provider, her crying stopped. I can attest on the need for decent child care providers, to provide a good environment for our children. So very important. Great introduction, and I look forward to more writings from you in the future.
